Co-owners, Elaine and Geoff, have operated East Geelong Newsagency since December 1991, with the help of their children, Rick and Anders. Over 29 years, Elaine and Geoff have relocated in order to grow their floor space and have expanded into the shop next door. Over this period, they have added a cafe (Coffee on Garden), an Australia Post outlet, and a phone repair store (Techrevive) to their business offerings.
Their efforts in the newsagency have been recognized on a local and national level as seen through its many accolades including Victorian Newsagent of the Year (2001 and 2016), National Newsagent of the Year (2002) and Geelong Advertiser Business Excellence Small Business Award (2002).
Elaine has contributed greatly to the newsagency industry throughout her time as a newsagent, including acting as Chairperson of Geelong’s Newsagents Association and acting as a face of the Victorian Government’s “Support Small Business” campaign. Not least among her contributions, was her work as VANA’s first female board member in history, which contributed to her win of the VANA Legend Award in 2018.
