Scenically located along the Great Ocean Road, Anglesea News & Lotto experience a roaring trade over the summer period however it is their community engagement that keeps them busy year-round. During the past year, they pivoted multiple times to cater to the changing Victorian COVID-19 restrictions, especially as many holiday-home owners were prevented from visiting during the year. They began to offer no-contact, gift-wrapped deliveries along the Surf Coast and organized care packages for locals.
Paul and Corinne, along with other local retailers, were instrumental in securing a COVID Recovery grant from the Surf Coast Shire to create an ‘Anglesea Shop Local’ social media campaign (also linked below). With the grant, coordinated by a local marketing company, Anglesea retailers were able to highlight their wide range of products. From the campaign, the store saw an uptick in locally-made cards, giftware and Australian-made products. They also used the platform to advertise Christmas vouchers.
At all times, the store strives to create an upbeat environment. The key to this atmosphere is the friendly attitudes of staff, strengthened by great staff parties, and the strong community vibe of the township.
